Amabel Provisions is a cut-to-order cheese shop in the Elmwood Village. We keep thirty-odd wheels, a case of cured meat, a short sandwich menu and a pantry of things worth carrying home.

What we do
A proper cheese shop, run by two people who spent years behind somebody else’s counter.
Julian Dell’Oso and Clayton Edison opened Amabel in 2024 after long restaurant careers and a lot of time herding cheese. The idea was simple and slightly overdue: Buffalo deserved a shop where somebody cuts the wheel in front of you, hands you a taste, and tells you honestly whether it is what you are after.
Nothing here is pre-portioned in a factory. We buy in whole formats, cut to order, and sell it while it is at its best.

Sandwiches, made to order
A short menu that turns over with the season, built on good bread with the same cheese and cured meat we sell by the pound.

The pantry
Conserva, cornichons, cultured butter, honey, crackers and oil from small producers — much of it not stocked anywhere else in Western New York.
Cheese Club
Four cheeses a month, chosen for you.
Each month members get a foursome of interesting cheeses with accoutrements and tasting notes to guide the way through them. Collect at the shop, or at Miller’s Thumb Bakery & Cafe in Tonawanda.

Next door
Concord, a wine bar.
In January we opened Concord at 1008 Elmwood — deep emerald walls, low light, vintage furniture and no bar at all, just tables. A natural, small-production wine list and a menu of small plates built from the shop next door.
